First stop was St Peter's Bishop's
Waltham, an 11cwt ring of 8. Ringing on 8 was a novel concept to some but we persevered.
From there it was just down the road to
the light 8 at Blessed Mary in Upham.
Trying to keep our convoy of 3 vehicles in
loose formation we travelled to the last tower before lunch. We were starting to
develop a technique on 8 bells and had another opportunity in the long draft
tower at St John the Evangelist, West Meon.
An excellent lunch was taken at The
Hampshire Bowman at Dundridge where we were made most welcome. A large range
of ales was racked up at the back and the menu was good value and varied. We
have no hesitation in recommending it.
We reflected on how fortunate it was that
all the 8 bell towers were before lunch as we proceeded to the ring of 6 at
Our Lady, located in the private park at Warnford, a beautiful and (usually)
peaceful place.
The final 2 towers were both very light
6s, St Nicholas, Wickham at 8 cwt and St Barnabas, Swanmore at 6 cwt.

The party dispersed at about 6.30 after a
full day's ringing, during which the newer ringers especially built on their
experience. Thanks go to the drivers, Karen, Stef and David. A big
thank you goes to Mandy for arranging an enjoyable day so efficiently.
